Senggigi And Beyond
Senggigi Beach
You can spend a lifetime of travel in search of the perfect beach, and it would be hard to top those around Senggigi, Lombok’s original tourist town.
Think: a series of sweeping bays with white-sand beaches, coconut palms, cliff and mountain backdrops, and blood-red views of Bali’s Gunung Agung at sunset when locals congregate on the cliffs and watch another day turn into night. As darkness descends, the bright lanterns of the local fishing fleet glint like fallen stars against the black sea.
The Senggigi area spans 10km of coastal road. Most shops, facilities and hotels are on the main road, jalan raya Senggigi, which starts about 6km nirth of Ampenan.
Pura Batu Bolong
It may not be the grandest, but it is Lombok’s sweetest Hindu temple. Join an ever-welcoming Balinese community as it leaves offerings at the 14 altars and pagodas that tumble down a rocky volcanic outcropping that spills into the foaming sea about 2km south of central Senggigi.
The temple is oriented towards Gunung Agung, Bali’s holiest mountain, and is a perfect sunset spot. The rock underneath the temple has a natural hole that gives it its name “batu bolong” or rock with holes.
Activities in Senggigi
You can do mostly touristic activities in Senggigi. Starting from snorkeling, scuba diving, biking or hiking. Perhaps you would like to spoil your body with massage and spa or salon? There is Laguna Beach Spa, Mandara Spa or Spa in some hotels.
Other facilities such as money changers, police station, and cyber cafe is nearby. Hospital is only available in Mataram city.
