What To See In Mataram
There are three main touristic spots that you can see in Mataram city. Although nothing much to see except the daily living of the people, you still can make some nice pictures of CIDOMO in Mataram.
1. Museum Negeri Nusa Tenggara Barat. This is the only museum in Mataram, perhaps also in Lombok island. All the relic from prehistorical ages up to world war II, including Keris daggers, are the things you can find inside the museum.
2. Mayura Water Palace. The palace was built in 1744 by the Kingdom of Hinduism in Lombok. Now, there is no more descendants of the kingdom and the palace becoming empty.
3. Pura Meru, is the largest and most important Hindu temple on Lombok. Built in 1720 by Balinese price Anak Agung Made Karang, it’s dedicated to the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
There are three Meru inside the temple, made by teak wood, one in the center is Shiva’s Meru, one in the north is Vishnu’s Meru and one in the South is Brahma’s Meru.
The three meru is also representing three great mountains: Rinjani, Agung and Bromo, and the mythical Mount Meru.
Mataram And Beyond
There are some gorgeous villages, rice fields and temples, reminiscent of some of the best landscapes and scenery that Bali has to offer, east of Mataram. You can ask US to arrange your half day tour by sending us email to

Pura Lingsar
This large temple compound is the holiest on Lombok. Built in 1741 by King Anak Agung Ngurah, and nestled beautifully in the lush rice paddies, its multi-denominational, with a temple for Balinese Hindus and one for followers of Lombok’s mystical take on Islam, Wektu Telu.
The Hindu temple Pura Gaduh in the northern half is higher than the Wektu Telu temple in the southern section. Pura Gaduh has four shrines, one oriented to Gunung Rinjani (seats of the gods on Lombok), one to Gunung Agung (seats of the gods in Bali) and a double shrines representing the union between the two islands.
The Wektu Telu temple is noted for its enclosed pond devoted to Lord Vishnu, and the holy eels, which can be enticed from their hiding places with hard-boiled eggs. It is considered good luck to feed them.
Suranadi
Suranadi is a pleasant little village surrounded by picturesque countryside. It has a temple, a small pocket of forest and a swimming pool for locals and tourists.
Pura Suranadi is one of the holiest Hindu temple on Lombok. It’s worth a visit for its lovely gardens, with a bubbling, icy natural spring and restored baths with ornate Balinese carvings and holy eels.
Just opposite the village market, an entrance leads to Hutan Wisata Suranadi, a quiet forest sanctuary good for short hikes and birdwatching.
Sesaot and around
Some 4km northeast of Suranadi is Sesaot, a charming market town with an ice-cold holy river that snakes from Gunung Rinjani into the forest. Further east, Air Nyet is another pretty village with more options for swimming and picnics.
Gunung Pengsong
This Balinese hilltop temple, 9km south of Mataram, has spectacular views across undulating rice fields towards distant volcanoes and the sea. Once a year, generally in March or April, a buffalo is taken up the steep slope and sacrificed to give thanks for a good harvest.
Banyumulek
This place is one of the two main pottery centers on Lombok, specialized in decorated pots, pots with a woven fibre covering, as well as more traditional urns and water flasks.
