11 Days Lombok Sumbawa Komodo
This trip gives you the perfect opportunity to experience the culture and nature of both Lombok and Sumbawa. You will stay on a ‘bounty’ island, meet the traditional Sasak people of north and east Lombok, watch their dance performances and enjoy their traditional food. You will walk through stunning natural surroundings and get acquainted with local crafts, like weaving and pottery. While traveling through Sumbawa it feels like time stood still. You visit colorful markets and architectural sites, and laze on beautiful white sandy beaches.
For a real adventure we visit the Komodo National Park, home to the world’s most ancient animal, the Komodo dragon!
Day 1 and 2 Gili Meno
After arrival on Lombok you will be transferred to the harbor of Bangsal. On the way you will visit a pasar (market) and a local house where you can see the traditional way of making palm sugar (gula jawa). From Bangsal we leave for Gili Meno by boat. Gili Meno is the most beautiful of the three “bounty” islands just off the west coast of Lombok and an ideal place to relax, swim or snorkel. The place is famous for its miraculous sunsets.
Day 3 Labuan Pandan
You sail back to Bangsal. From here you will continue your journey towards Labuan Pandan, via the north coast of Lombok. Along the way we visit Segenter, a village where people still follow the ancient Wetu Telu religion. We stroll around the village, guided by a local inhabitant.
The villagers are friendly and curious. We continue our journey to Senaru, a lush-green village situated on the foot of the Rinjani volcano. After lunch we walk through magnificent green rice-paddies to a waterfall. After the hike you continue to Labuan Pandan. Here you will be welcomed by a local family who will be you host. They will cook you a delicious dinner and you learn all about life in a kampung.
Day 4 Tetebatu
In the morinng you will visit a beautiful coral island not far from shore by boat, to spend some time enjoying the underwater world. After lunch you drive to Lenek, where you will see a traditional dance performance. Don’t be surprised to see the entire village coming outside their homes to welcome you! You spend the night in Tetebatu, a small village on the other side of the Rinjani vulcano, situated at about 800 meters above sea-level.
Day 5 Tetebatu
We trek through rice- and tobacco fields towards Pringgasela, a small village with ancient weaving traditions. Here you can enjoy a delicious traditional Sasak meal. In the afternoon we visit Masbagik, a pottery village and Loyok, a bamboo village.
Day 6 Sumbawa Besar
Early morning we leave for Lombok’s harbor to embark on the ferry to Sumbawa. Here it is another interesting three hour’s drive along the coast. We stay in stilted bungalows, directly situated on the beach.
There will be time left to swim, snorkel or just laze on the beach.
Day 7 Sumbawa Besar
Today is reserved for a tour around town. A local guide brings us to the colourful market of Sumbawa Besar, the palace of the sultan, a longhouse completely made of wood dating from the last century and a traditional Sumbawese village, Kampung Pamulung. Here you get to know local live in all its assets; the women are weaving and the men roll their traditional cigarettes.
In the afternoon we return to our bungalows. The rest of the day is free to spend.
Day 8 Bima
A long but beautiful drive through a variety of landscapes, offering splendid views across the ocean. On the way we stop by Labuan Jambu, a traditional fishermen’s village. Here you can also see how fishing boats are manufactured. The village is very scenic and photogenic and we will be invited to visit the local primary school. In the afternoon we reach Bima. On theway there we make a stop to visit one of the salt-fields, where we learn about the traditional process of salt making.
Day 9 Komodo, overnight stay on the boat
In the early morning we go on board to sail towards Komodo. Here you will meet the majestic Komodo Dragon! Komodo is one of the few places left in the world where these ancient animals are to be found. The underwater-world surrounding the isle is breath-taking, so we make plenty of snorkel-stops on worthwhile places. Afterwards we set sail to Rinca, where we stay the night onboard. Our cook will prepare a delightful dinner on deck, while a thousand stars shine down on you.
Day 10 Labuan Bajo
In the early morning we make a walk over the isle to enjoy the magnificent views. Once again you meet with the dragons. Rinca is a place which sees few tourists. This will offer you a unique natural experience. We return onboard to sail back to Flores. In the afternoon, after a few snorkeling-stops, we arrive in Labuan Bajo (Flores).
Day 11 Bali
The morning is free to spend. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the airport. If you wish it is possible to stay 1 more day in Labuan Bajo.

Hotels
Your accommodation will be in simple but cosy and clean hotels. In all hotels you will have a private bathroom. For the comfort class we will provide you with the best hotels on Flores, but still not very luxery exept Labuan Bajo.
